You’ve come to the end of this Eczema Answers Online course and I hope you now feel more informed and better prepared to deal with your own eczema or, if you are a parent or caregiver, the eczema of your child or person in your care.
Eczema, as we noted early on in the course, can be a challenging condition to manage. It can present differently depending on the age of the individual, their genetic history, the environment they live in, and the type of lifestyle they have. It can be mild or severe, or both at different times. And triggers may vary and be overwhelming at times.
However, even with all these variables at play, it is vital that you focus on your own condition to determine what is likely to be causing the flare-ups and how to minimise the chance of your eczema affecting your life adversely.
With that in mind, this course gave you a number of starting points to both explore and better manage your eczema. Now that you have moved through the 11 modules, you will have a much deeper understanding of what eczema is, what is happening in the skin when it occurs, the many reasons that it might occur, and what to do if that happens.
It's important we all learn not to box ourselves into other people's definitions of healthy living. We all have completely unique bodies with completely unique needs. The only way to create your individualized image of wellness is to commit to discovering your ideal version of personal health. We must evolve and take responsibility for our own health, it’s not the responsibility of our doctors or our government or the chefs at our favorite cafe. The same is true for skin health.
Now,a I still wash my face every day, but now aI'm using dōTERRA Essential Skin Care, Fractionated Coconut Oil, and pure Frankincense Essential oil. I'm also into cleansing my body with dōTERRA non allergic pure soaps with infused therapeutic essential oils, and I love coconut oil for body lotion. Using these products has made a huge difference. I no longer have oily and flaky skin.
I've settled into a happy eating routine, too. Sugar, dairy and grains seem to trigger eczema flareups for me. It took me a while to stop missing ice cream, but It’s been 5 years now and there is always a great non dairy + non sugar substitute. I’ve found enough alternatives I like. I’ve become more experimental with my cocking too. I also notice that I have great skin when I'm cooking more. There’s nothing like clean homecoming for healthy skin.
Other people put on weight as soon as they sniff a muffin. For me, bad eating would always trigger an eczema flareup, and a downward spiral of "Why me?" but I have come to be grateful for my skin, because I really feel my journey to wellness has raised my awareness on all aspects of my life. I believe I am a better person because of my eczema journey. I am altogether healthier now and more in tune with my body because of the distress signals my skin was sending me.
